I'm really stoked, got my first BJJ class next monday, im a total beginner to the sport and wondered what i should do or expect for my first lesson?

I mean, i'd like to be a little prepared about what to expect and anything i should do before the class?

Any advice would be

I've just nicely started bjj myself (back in december i had my first lesson), once you get through the first few weeks you'll start to enjoy it more i promise.

It can be a little disheartening for the first few lessons as you'll no doubt spend 99% of the time getting choked and submitted by every man and his dog

As far as advice for your first lessons goes, just go in there wanting to learn with an open mind i guess. Other than that have fun!

At the start your teacher will probably go through some basic techniques with you, guard passes, how to break guard, some of the beginner friendly sweeps, positioning, stuff like that.

Best advice is dont be afraid to ask questions, if it's anything like my first classes expect to get submitted 100s of times

Your comfort level will depend on your previous experience with wrestling and watching grappling. I started out at what is now a top training camp, didn't know much at all about bjj, never did wrestling...so I was a fish out of water. But after a while you will get the hang of it.

Just don't get hurt in the process. I had to learn about the correct way to roll on my neck as well as get my neck stronger. I also hyperextended my fingers once because I didn't know not to reach back and brace myself when getting taken down.
