I've been told to focus on working my major muscle groups to pack on size and strength. I've got a friend who's been weightlifting for years but im not sure what he means exactly.

Do i not need to focus as much on specific smaller muscle groups?

If you're wanting to bulk, skip on the isolation excercises (arm curls, tricep extensions) and focus on working your major muscle groups.

bench press, cleans, deadlifts and squats.

Remember to always use good form, and lift heavy! You'll also need to up your food intake too, i'll try post some more info in the diet forum soon.
